Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected when someone visits Wayne County Criminal History, how that information is handled, and the limited situations in which it may be disclosed. By using the website, you agree to the practices set out here.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A search entered in a website search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates it. That provider processes the name or location and supplies its results. Wayne County Criminal History does not retain or log the search terms on its own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

When you email us, the message may be kept for the time needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law. We do not voluntarily pass the message to unrelated parties.

Data We Gather Automatically

Our servers receive basic technical information as pages load. That information may include:

  • Pages viewed and the length of each visit
  • Your device type and operating system
  • The date and time of each page request
  • The referring website, when one is available
  • Your device's assigned IP address
  • Browser type and version

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files saved on a device. We use them with analytics services to understand broad traffic patterns, such as which Wayne County record pages are visited most and where visits end. Browser controls can block cookies. Some website features may work in a different way when cookies are disabled.

What We Do With This Data

The visitor and technical data described above may be used for these purposes:

  • Finding and repairing technical faults
  • Routing a submitted search to the appropriate outside service
  • Keeping pages available, stable, and quick to load
  • Understanding which parts of the site serve visitors well
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Wayne County Criminal History does not own, compile, sell, or maintain a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general information about requesting records from the Wayne County Circuit Court Clerk, Wayne County law-enforcement offices, the Kentucky State Police Criminal Identification and Records Branch, Kentucky Court of Justice systems, and the Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry. Public access to agency investigative material can be governed by KRS 17.150, while requests to executive-branch agencies may fall under the Kentucky Open Records Act. Those laws do not turn this private site into the custodian of a government record.

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a criminal-history record about another person.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies power the search boxes that appear on the website. Information submitted through a box is handled under that company's privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices. We do not control those terms. Review the provider's policy before sending a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to the Wayne County Circuit Court Clerk, Kentucky courts, the Kentucky State Police, other government offices, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once you follow a link, the destination's privacy rules govern the visit. Check those rules before giving that site personal information.

Advertising companies may also use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. Their tracking does not take place on systems controlled by Wayne County Criminal History.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal information. The limited recipients of visitor data may include:

  • Advertising networks that deliver ads on the website
  • Analytics providers that measure use and performance
  • Search partners that process a query you submit
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies responding to a valid legal order

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable, commonly used security measures are applied to data under our control. No online system is completely secure, however. We work to protect visitor information but cannot guarantee that a breach or unauthorized access will never occur.

Users Under 18

The website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under age 18. If we learn that a minor supplied personal information, we will delete it.

Your Data Rights

Kentucky's Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, governs qualifying records held by public agencies. KRS 61.872 sets inspection and written-request rules for those records. Because Wayne County Criminal History is privately run and is not a public agency, that Act does not make this website a Kentucky public-record custodian. Rights under other law can depend on where you live. At a minimum, you may ask us to:

  • Stop certain processing when a legal opt-out right applies
  • Provide a copy of personal data we hold about you
  • Correct personal information that is inaccurate
  • Delete personal data where the law requires deletion

Updates to This Policy

This privacy policy may change as website practices or legal duties change. A revised version will be posted here, and its effective date will be updated. Review the policy from time to time if you want to know how information is handled.
